How do I care for my HYOU Fine Jewelry?

FINE JEWELRY CARE

Now that you have your hands on some of our stunning pieces—solid gold, gold vermeil, silver, diamonds, and colored gemstones—how do you keep them looking their best? Here's your ultimate guide to caring for your jewels, complete with essential tips from the experts here at HYOU Fine Jewelry.

Solid Gold: The Golden Rules

Solid gold is like that one friend who can handle anything. But even they appreciate a little pampering.

  • Polish Like a Pro: Gold loves a gentle rubdown. Use a soft cloth to keep it sparkling and avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Avoid Abrasives: No scrubbing pads or harsh cleaners. Gold is soft and easily scratched, so keep things gentle. If your gold gets dirty, a mild soap and water solution will do the trick.
  • Store Smart: When you're not flaunting your gold, store it in a soft pouch—like the one it came from HYOU Fine Jewelry— or a lined jewelry box.

Gold Vermeil: The Gilded Guardian

Gold vermeil is like that friend who's always dressed to impress. It's a tough cookie, but it still needs a little love.

  • Keep It Dry: Although water-resistant, gold vermeil isn't waterproof and ultimately prefers to stay dry. So avoid water, sweat, perfumes, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Soft Touch Only: Use a soft cloth to clean your vermeil. Harsh chemicals or abrasive materials can wear down the gold layer.
  • Store It Well: Just like solid gold, keep your vermeil in a soft pouch or separate compartment to prevent scratches.

Silver: Shine On

Silver is like that moody friend who can go from drab to fab in seconds. But it needs a little attention to stay on the fabulous side.

  • Regular Cleaning: Silver loves a regular polish. Use a silver cloth or a mild silver cleaner to keep tarnish at bay.
  • Avoid Moisture: Store silver in a dry place and avoid exposure to moisture.
  • Keep It Stored: Use anti-tarnish pouches or cloths for storage. Silver likes to rest comfortably, away from light and air.

Diamonds: Always and Forever

Diamonds are forever, right? Well, almost. They're tough, but not indestructible.

  • Gentle Cleaning: Clean diamonds with a mild soap solution and a soft brush. They don't need harsh chemicals—just a gentle touch to keep that sparkle alive.
  • Avoid Other Gems: Store diamonds separately from other jewelry to prevent scratches.
  • Regular Check-ups: Have your diamonds checked by a professional occasionally to ensure they're secure.

Colored Gemstones: Rainbow Bright

Colored gemstones are like a box of chocolates: each one is unique and requires a little extra care.

  • Mind the Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Some gemstones are sensitive to harsh chemicals and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid Heat and Chemicals: Keep your gems away from high heat and harsh chemicals.
  • Store with Care: Store gemstones separately to avoid scratching.
